You’re feeling a little restless and feisty. There is little traffic. And then it happens. In walks an out-of-shape couple inquiring about a gym membership.
You’ve got extra time, nothing to do, so why not try a fun gym sales technique? Head over to your dumb bell rack and grab a 2 ½ and a 5 pound dumbbell. Give the 2 ½ to the woman and 5 to the guy.
Tell them to hold them during the tour and you’ll explain why when the tour is over. Instruct them to hold the dumbbells locked in a bicep curl at the half way mark. Proceed with your health club tour as normal showing them the ins and outs of the gym. Make sure you get answers to those tie-down questions I discussed previously and take your time.
When you start noticing signs of their discomfort, put your foot on the accelerator and head to the sales desk. Tell them to put the dumbbells down and listen for their sighs of relief.
As they shake their arms out, explain to them the point of dumbbells is to demonstrate how extra weight stresses the body. If dropping only 5 and 2 ½ pounds respectively feels good, just imagine what losing 30 feels like? Now go into your gym sales pitch and tell them how your health club can help them achieve that goal.
